Have you ever had Scripture explained to you, but the explanation still seemed to have holes in it? Have you ever been judged by someone who used Scripture to defend their position? You may have even wondered how God could support such behavior when it seems to go against His own character. Scripture is often taught outside of context, creating traditional teachings that conflict with what God wants us to learn. Deeper at the Surface takes Scripture and returns it to its context. From tithing, to divorce and remarriage, Josh Coverett tears down years of traditional misinterpretations and shows us that Scripture is always deeper at the surface of context.
Scripture is too important. We cannot afford to get it wrong. When it is misunderstood, we can inadvertently place burdens and shame on others, that should not be. So, dive in! The Bible is supposed to be the place we go to find answers, but what happens when we are still left with questions? We often continue believing what we are taught without completely understanding why. It is important to know what we believe. But it is crucial to know WHY we believe what we believe. Josh Coverett has systematically addressed many of the difficult questions about the Bible. Why must we all pay for Adam’s sin? Why does God seem so different in the Old Testament than He does in the New Testament?
For too long we have accepted answers which still leave us with questions. If we can partake of the Lord’s Supper unworthily; what makes us unworthy? God understands our questions and has revealed the answers within His Word. It is time to dig deeper!
